YOGA - WEST OF THE NARROWS
YOUR "PERSONAL" PRACTICE AIN'T SO PERSONAL.
SANGHA is a Sanskrit term that embodies an idea of community spiritualism. Sort of the "collective greater good" that brings about supporting each other in our community, enabling us to hold one another up and to foster oneness. When you practice Yoga, whether on a Yoga mat, your favorite meditation pillow or by practicing ahimsa at the grocery store, you are contributing to the whole.
Like it or not, your "personal" practice isn't so personal, after all.
When we are diligent and practice our chosen method of Yoga, the results are spread out to those in our community, either by face-to-face interaction (a kind gesture at said grocery store) or by association (donating time or goods to a local service). If your physical and/or mental practice is in tact, it seems safe to say those around you will benefit from your less stressfull and more in-tune output of words and actions.
Wouldn't it be amazing if EVERYONE practiced? We can connect with our selves and the community simultaneously, simply by carving out time for Yoga.
"YOGA IS FIRSTLY FOR INDIVIDUAL GROWTH, BUT THROUGH INDIVIDUAL GROWTH, SOCIETY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOP." - B.K.S. IYENGAR
