"You all look like a tribe of Warrior Women!" Carla Lundgren, owner of Viva Flow Yoga, thrillingly exclaimed. And we did. The coolest tribe of women, ever.

Here it was, a Friday night, in a dark studio except for the black lights (P.S. When's the last time you basked in the glow of a black light?) and soft light trickling in from the main street, and we were glowing from head to toe. Literally, because we had all just spent time in the lobby applying our glow-in-the-dark paints to various parts of our faces and bodies. Our outfits lit up, and each time we turned around, we couldn't help but laugh at the sight of the person across from us, next to us, behind us........

Unsurprisingly the Glowga (Glow-in-the-dark Yoga) event was sold out, which meant mats in close proximity to our neighbor which, on any other given day, may have invoked a slight grumble from even the chillest Yogi. However, tonight it made it all the more exciting when we and our neighbors were lighting each other up, giggling at the absurdity of the situation.

The rave-like dance beats surged and pumped through my veins, encouraging us to groove along in the All Levels Flow Class, which I did, my 90's kids heart soaring as beats like "Return of the Mac" brought me back to good times. Rather than allowing my eyes to focus on the usual speck of dirt/fuzz/hair on my mat while holding a pose, my eyes found bright, neon flakes that had sloughed off on to my mat, an awesome alternative.

Carla led us through an invigorating practice with cool vibes and often whipping out her camera to capture the crazy in its rare form. We were happy to oblige. I was sad to see it end, as I knew this was an event that was not to be topped for awhile. My smile big, my body blissed out (a usual side effect of my practices at Viva Flow), I walked back out into the lobby and then the street, feeling renewed from having stepped outside-the-box in my practice, my perspective much brighter.
