YOGA - WEST OF THE NARROWS
STUDIO EXPERIENCE
Although I've been to several of the Yoga locations listed in the Directory, a goal I have is to visit as many as I can, paying respect to and delighting in the studios that make up our Yogic community here in this area of Washington. Join me, as I pop in for a class or workshop at each and share my journey there.
As if hovering over the water in beautiful downtown Port Orchard in a studio with a view weren't enough, the cool room (a welcomed sensation now that we've actually got what we've asked for; sunshine) with plum mats in a circle and ambient music drifting through your ears like the water below would do the trick .
I arrived for Yoga Nidra w/ Relaxing Energetic Touch hosted by Beckie Evans of Life Keys Energy http://lifekeysenergy.com/ (April 2017's Teacher Reveal!) ready to let go and restore with a very long, guided relaxation. Having been to the studio once last year, and having done a couple of free online Yoga Nidra sessions at home here and there, I was comfortable in my surroundings. Props were laid out for us on each mat (which I looked forward to using each and every one of). So was an easy flip card to express if we'd like energectic touch that day or not (Yoga Nidra alone is a trip) and an essential oil blend in a convenient roller ball (a gift to each of us for our attendance).
'Refresh' was the embodiment of the oil. Yes, this was definitely a time to let go of build-up and allow myself to refresh. I put the oil on.
After a short explanation we got comfortable on our mats, propped up to calm down. The soothing music continued as we received energetic touch to our feet and heads. Becky softly guided us through releasing each piece of our body, addressing almost every inch. She lead us through our chakras, an experience that deepens relaxation as well as helps to repair imbalance.
A tuning fork on the 6th & 7th chakras towards the end was the cherry on top of our rainbow-colored sundaes.
Floating out of the studio to my car (is it safe to drive this blissed out?) led me to believe there's something magical about the recesses of the mind, full awareness of the body, and relaxation that sinks deep in the tissues. I felt a bit sad knowing that I cannot, alone, recreate this amazing experience in the throws of kids, dinners and laundry that pick on me at home. An experience like this needs a space like Annapolis Fitness, and a leader like Beckie.
Beckie hosts Yoga at Annapolis Fitness Tues 10am, Wed 7pm, and 1st Sat 10am. Annapolis Fitness also offers a variety of Yoga and other classes to choose from, so check out their newly updated website at http://annapolis-fitness.com/ and their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AnnapolisFitness/
A half-day offering is coming June 11th called 'Alchemy: A Day of Transformation.' This event is from 11-3:30pm & is hosted by 5 talented people and is designed to balance you emotionally, spiritually and physically.
Best wishes for calm in the chaos, Yogis! Until next time..........
