MONTHLY STUDIO EXPERIENCE

There's no better way to grow your practice and have fun connecting with your Yogi peers than heading to local classes and events! Join me as I pay respect to and delight in the studios that make up our Yogic community here in this area of Washington, and share the details of my journey there.

I'm no stranger to meditation. In fact, I'm quite fond of it and we have a good thing going. Like any relationship, there are days that are rockier than others, and those days where we're completely in sync. However, as I often tell my Yoga students (or anyone that will listen to me for that matter) is that just because you've practiced one style for awhile or have tasted many forms, NEVER STOP EXPERIMENTING.

That was my motive as I made my way to Intuitive Alchemy in Gig Harbor on a Monday night. No expectations....just to arrive with an open mind and a willingness to try something new. Already having a good rapport with meditation didn't hurt either.

I was greeted by a smiling face and a warm presence with a name Liz. She was thorough in her explanation of the specific system of Max Meditation, including its heritage and what I could expect along the way. This was welcome, as I really had no idea what to be prepared for. However, I quickly found out that no amount of explaining can prepare you for your unique meditative experience with this system, but I was grateful that I knew ahead of time the structure of the class.

With ambient music and lights down low, in a room with crystals placed strategically, our session began. We focused first on physical body relaxation in a way that was familiar, yet had a surprising and effective twist. We then began the calming of the mind, with a soothing visualization that made washing away the cares and thoughts bubbling up as easy as rinsing out a freshly used cup. Over and over again; thought approach, thought release...until the space between thoughts grew to become far and wide.

The time came that we were presented with a word, and then later, another. As we silently mulled on the essence of each word in every imaginable variation, they took shape and meaning in a way I'd never experienced, each possessing its own magic and expression. So simple, yet complex. So light, but with immense weight. Similar, however incredibly unique. I was astounded.

Liz then proceeded in her guidance with a visualization with a journey involved. It was one that led me to a spiritually warm embrace and the gift of a message from the other side. An exchange so deeply moving that the imprint is tattooed on my mind, heart and soul.

Before it seemed our hour could have possibly been up, I was led back into the room to ground with earth energy and a delicious piece of Ghiradelli chocolate (a nice touch I might add!). I knew that this system had been comprised thoughtfully, delivered by Liz skillfully and would benefit ANY brave soul that was willing to - just for an hour- shed their identity, ideals and conceptualisms in order to be open and curious to experience, receiving the greatest gift of all; PEACE.

Max Meditation is typically offered each Monday evening, however will be on hold at least through the end of the year. First class is FREE (always free for 1st responders), and $20 thereafter, unless you 'check in' on Facebook reducing cost to $10. Keep checking back with Intuitive Alchemy on their EVENTS CALENDAR to find this class when it returns. Meanwhile, take a peak at all that the store has to offer, including healing services (Liz has other private offerings at this location), metaphysical tools, and even an amazing monthly subscription box chalked full of goodies! This place rocks, in my opinion.
